Rob Chamberlain, Ents Manager, said ‘we have a good team here and what we believe is a great live space. Perhaps what we don’t have is the access to Industry to communicate exactly what a great offering The Copper Rooms is. Working with Steve, Richard and the VMS team, we feel confident that this will give us the best opportunity of delivering a successful live programme back to the Students’ Union and, in turn, providing a diverse offering for the local community. We will be looking at all aspects of the offering from production, capacity, through ticketing and marketing to hire fees to ensure we really do offer the best value for money out there”.
Steve Forster commented “Warwick was one of the first venues I worked in before moving onto Wembley & AMG, so it is a site I know very well and in the past great live music people such as Chris York, Jon Slade and Richard Hunter learnt their trade their. When I first crossed the threshold all those years ago, there was little or nothing in terms of a contemporary events programme but over the next 18 months or so, we managed to transform the venue into one of the busiest SU’s in the Country with everyone from Primal Scream and The Stranglers to D:Ream and The Charalatans playing there. Things have obviously changed a lot since then and the Copper Rooms is an entirely new venue. Having said that it is potentially a great space as an 800-1000 ‘club style’ venue and there are not too many of those out there any more. We will be looking at all aspects of the operation to make it as good as it can be and will be looking to promote shows in our own right there as well as offering fantastic deals on a hire basis to the national promoters. We can’t wait to get started”.
